A perfect project - Mary Palmer Consulting
Most small business people use a spreadsheet to do their day-to-day bookkeeping, and freelance project manager Mary Palmer was no exception; until she tried Liberty. 'I used to create spreadsheets using Excel, then email them off to my accountant,' she recalls, and although she was aware that Liberty could offer a much better way of dealing with the process, she spent a long time thinking about it before she decided to make the move.
I recommend it to other people...
'I was reluctant to let go of my spreadsheets, and do things differently,' she says, adding: 'I think most people dislike change.' But once Mary started using Liberty she became an evangelical convert. 'I recommend it to other people,' she says, telling them about its ease of use, and extolling the virtues of remote access. 'Liberty is a really simple way to record your accounts,' says Mary, 'and you can access it from anywhere you happen to be, as long as you have a laptop and an internet connection,' which is particularly good news when you spend a lot of your time on the road, as Mary does.
Liberty has also helped her to save money on the annual bill she receives from her accountants. 'I can use Liberty to produce a profit and loss account for them, which makes my accountants very happy,' she says. 'This saves us both time,' she adds, and is reflected in the amount her accountants charge for their services. 'I don't think people realise how important it is to keep their accounts properly,' suggests Mary, who believes that the online accounting software approach has also made it easier for her to manage her business better.
I wouldn't go back to Excel even though it is free...
'When I log into Liberty it immediately lets me know which client accounts are due or coming up for payment,' she says, and she no longer has to waste time drawing up invoices, because the system produces them automatically. 'Liberty has got some great features,' says Mary, 'and I wouldn't go back to Excel even though it is free.'
