For the past decade, Barnaby Scott and his team of craftsmen have been combining simplicity of design and sympathy with wood to create some of the most beautiful and individual furniture you are ever likely to see. 'We respond to a wide variety of design briefs,' he says, and although Waywood always puts the tastes of the customer first, it produces timeless pieces that will give as much pleasure a hundred years from now as they do today. 'We aim to create works which have subtlety and character,' he explains, 'but we also place great emphasis on fitness for purpose.'

So when it comes to accounting software, Waywood chooses Liberty. 'We've tried other systems and disliked them,' says Barnaby. 'With Liberty we know where we stand financially,' he explains, and costs are much easier to manage. 'We didn't want to waste money on Sage or QuickBooks,' he explains, paying the initial purchase price, then paying again for upgrades, so in 2005 he decided to investigate the online accounting software options, and found Liberty.
The system is now being used by a number of the staff at Waywood. 'I use it occasionally,' says Barnaby, 'but it's mostly used by my assistant to handle invoices, VAT and so on, then once a week, a bookkeeper comes in and does everything else.'

Barnaby likes the predictable fixed costs of Liberty, and appreciates being able to use it today without being tied in to using it tomorrow - unlike traditional accounting applications. 'There are other systems out there,' he says, 'but there aren't any truly viable offerings that are equivalent.'
